Back up and running

Hooray! Finally, the Exige is out of the garage and back in my hands. Struggling not to drive the arse off it, but it is soooooooo nice to be back in the seat again. Somehow you just cannot drive a Cherokee like a sports car!!!Even treated her to a CD player as a treat (got one with lots of flashing lights so I have somehting to look at when I can’t hear it…)Unfortunately, the bill exceeded first estimates, however, for those out there thinking about getting braided brake hoses, I highly reccommend them. Really good pedal feel and a vast improvement on the old. Just need the engine to loose up before I can see how effective the 190 upgrade is from Emerald. See you all on the roads! hehehe

Good news,How much was it in the end ?

However, got the braided hoses, new rear tyres, Emerald Upgrade, new radiator, so this pushed the cost higher than I first anticipated. (They found the radiator broken, and think this may have a contributor to the engine going bang as well!)Have to admit, Lakeside were very reasonable on their labour charges, and 3.5K of the bill was on new parts.

Happy running in the beast … [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]I know what it is like…boring [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/image]later,Bruno

Ouch [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] But at least your up and running again.Somehow i can’t see a rad causing your spun bearing i would have thought that you would have noticed the temp going crazy! Great that your car is back where it should be ADL [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] .Thats one helluva bill tho’, did it require a new head and if so, out of interest, how much are they? Here’s to a long stretch of trouble free motoring…Cheers Simon

Fortunately the head was ok, but the big bits of the bill were…LabourNew ClutchBig end bearing set (comp)New cranktwo new tyresEmerald ECUS/S Brake hosesRadiatorThese were the most expensive bits with shed loads of bolts, gaskets etc… Everything just added up slowly but surely!Hopefully the engine should be good for 20K’s worth of thrashing now!

[image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/confused.gif[/image]The rad didn’t cause the problem. Spinning a bearing would have happened anyway due to lack of oil. I was thrashing the car at the time, and wouldn’t have noticed the temp, however Lakeside think I may have hotspotted the engine if there was no water in it. Either which way, it was bust?!
