Back From Grune Holle

hey all,

Just thought i would come on here after a nice 5 day trip to the ring. it was very eventfull. started off with a nice drive from rotterdam to the ring taking plenty of detores around and getting lost even with 3 satnavs… all going a different route…

Once we got there we set out watching the classics going round, plenty of pretty cars but hardly any lotus’s so gutted,

Saturday was a full day, with nice weather so got 4 laps in, very carefull the first 2 laps then giving it some the next few,
on my third lap with my brother in the car i was giving it a bit too much and got a bit messy coming up the hill out of brunchen, going to fast as the camber changed the back end snapped on me and spun twice, and was going backwards to the barrier, luckily i got it under control and slowed it down enough and kept away from barrier but was a meter away and in the gravel, so after getting out that made way to exit to check out car and clean my pants. but it was fun.

sunday was raining, so took a trip to Ring werks. was good but at 19.50euros was expensive. not alot else to do with it chucking it down so decided to go for a couple of laps at a nice steady pass to learn the lines.

monday, well went to the bobsleying place on the way into adenau was fun for the speed getting up high in the bends. then onto the track in the evening where it was misty and wet on the top section going down into adenau, had 2 laps left so gave it my best on these laps back end stepping out badly coming into hatzonbach which was scary…

got asked to take a couple of friends out on a few laps which was later in the evening and it had dried up, was nice and quiet also which is really good, so took a chance to push hard and keep on the dry line and go for a good time, so went all guns blazing, best lap was 9:15 bridge to bridge.

during this time a mate of mine in a clio had an accident off track and damaged his car badly, after repairing it the best we could we set off home not realising the radiator was leaking, :frowning: bad times, so got some rad weld and tried to seal it up. it sealed up enough to get him to the ferry and home after 20 litres of water.

Glad you had a good time Ash… :sunglasses:

Next year if BaT get another full day it’s well worth a punt, you can really get familiar with the track after 15 laps ( :sunglasses: 18 if you’re Markyb or Pete)…it was totally off the fecking scale

Was it your first time there Ash? and what was your total lap count in the end?
Sounds like you had a good time, shame about your mates car.
4 days and I’m there myself.

Mike

PS
must admit i actually quite like it in the wet.

2nd time there i went a few years ago in a new civic type R, total lap count was 10 laps over the 3 days, was really good, love the track.

i might have to have a look at the BaT one, its always good fun,
think am gonna stick with the english tracks for now, i have never ben to donny so thats my next venture.

Are you going to Donny on the 10th Ash, it’s going to be the first time there in a car for me.
