Aux Belt/Pulley Issues

Hi, can anyone give a steer on this. My 240S started making belt noises from cold a few months ago.

I’ve recently had 2 pulleys replaced (both had play in the bearings) and a new aux belt fitted. Within a couple of hundred miles its started getting noisy again from cold but seems to disappear when warm. When I say noisy, not screeching or squealing, but there’s a noise there that shouldn’t be, so something aint right.

Not sure what to look at next?

Any video of the noise?

I was chasing one a few months ago:

  • changed tensioner (not just the pulley, the damper too)
  • changed idler pulley
  • changed belt
  • AC on/off seemed to influence it a bit so I started thinking it was compressor… but then with the load added to the belt when engaging AC it’s not guaranteed to be the root.

Eventually car left me stranded in North Wales, turns out the top bolt holding the alternator in position had sheared off. The noise I assume was the bracket straining/rattling under load.
