As I said above:

"Above is just my personal opinion, & I’m a great believer in peeps enjoying what they enjoy "

Pesky, I know where your coming from I do, but for my first couple of days in the cup I’m looking for places where I’m less likely to hit anything when I go off!

to that extent I’ve booked Silverstone and Bedford in November and I’m looking for something in October.

I too love Donnington and Oulton especially; Never done Cadwell in a car or Croft at all but I do plan to.

Its just that my driving style is, well according to an ex LeMans winner…“enthusiastic”! So I have to be a little careful at least until I’ve had more time in the car!

Look forward to getting some pointers somewhere soon though!

Jimbers

Hey, no probs matey - once you’ve done those two, there’ll be no stopping you

Never done Cadwell in a car or Croft at all but I do plan to.

I think Cadwell is best saved until you know your car and can “tame” your driving enthusiasm - that said its an excellent place and you should not be put off going there.

so myself and a mate are booked on to rockingham 15th.

and what a jolly jape it was too! though a word of warning…dont buy fuel at the pumps for your s2 Exige…cos it doh like it! Had a trying afternoon of power loss that only began to clear on the journey home after fillin up with good ol optimax. Either that or I have a REAL problem.

And interestingly, whilst attempting to improve my braking style I think I managed to get pad transfer and resultant vibration…but then also found out that going out harder next session, getting the brakes even hotter seemed to do the trick to getting them back to normal…and it has to be said the AP Racing 4 pots were great all day and I didnt hold back!

I thought the ciruit better than I expected and Henry (pretty blue Exige77 and Stuart? (titnaium S) both seemed to go well also and enjoy the day!

Brendan; thanks for making the trip with the wheel. Getting used to it and it is great without gloves as I expected; also dont miss the dials at all!!

I think after Bedford and Silverstone in November I’ll be about ready to join Pesky et al on Donnington, Oulton, croft and maybe Cadwell!!!

My first BAT event !

Extemly well organised. Great drivers briefing, especially the bit about “The Japo Barges” (Subaru’s, Evo’s, Skylines etc) and the “plastic pigs” (Lotus Sevens etc)

Didn’t take to the track at first but by the afternoon it was great after a few of Grahams (Plans) small adjustments to the Ohlins. I also filled up with fuel at the track station and had no problem. Maybe mine is as refined as Jimbers thoroughbred

When I first got my Ohlins fitted Graham told me once you have mastered it you will be able to get enough “G” force to make the acid come out of the battery. How I laughed ! Ended up with a boot full of acid by the afternoon. Sealed motorsport battery on it’s way !

The banked bit was fun, not at first but got to like it. Needed a few sessions before I was happy to go all the way around on full throttle.

I took some in-car vids during the day so will try and add to Jamie’s lap thread. Anyone know how to edit Jpeg movies ?

It was nice to see Brendon there who doesn’t look a bit like his photo !

Jimbers cup looks great in the flesh. I saw he already has a motorsport battery !

Thanks to Graham for Popping over. It was only after he left that I really got going. Probably thinks I’m a crap driver.

If anybody wants to see the incar vids let me know and I can send you a CD.

Apart from 5 1/2 hours to get home (M1 roadworks and M25 road works) great day.

Usually referred to as “Turbo nutter barges”

Glad you enjoyed yourself and got started on learning about your car the only real way you can - out on track.

did anyone actually SEE any of those that turned up initially on track during the day?

Seems they have the same reliability factor as the radicals? That said when those Radicals ARE going goodness they’re quick…one cam past me on the Oval like I was parked up!

Usually seem to have problems with brakes or tyres - either that or they all live hundreds of miles from the track…they always seem to have gone by early afternoon.

My bet theory is that they mostly are new owners who come to find the real performance of their cars and usually end up finding the car’s limitations first.

However, giving them their due, its nice to see them actually being tracked in the first place.

here here.

the more the merrier! there’s a guy that I see regularly at Bedford in a Red Subaru who makes it his job to go sideways everywhere all day, very safely and courteously, for everyone’s entertainment…and a nice guy too!

Just spotted this thread and wanted to say it was nice meeting Jimbers and Exige77 (sorry, didn’t get your real name). Maybe if I get stuck into some pies I can get to look more like my avatar

oh please dont change sweetie!

the wheel gets better matey! but alas still no silver diffuers on the horizon!

Glad you enjoyed Rockingham at the weekend. Looking at the entry list there seemed to be a huge number of caterhams. Hope you showed them the way round

I’ve booked up for the 29th. I see there are 4 Exiges and an Elise booked in already. Anyone else?

UFO…I managed to keep most of them at bay except an R400 academy car! which was parked next to me in the garage and seemed to use more oil than a small country!

I will see you there

Anyone else going to make it on Sunday?

Which track is it on the 29th ? and with which trackday company ?
Thanks…

Rockingham BAT as discussed earlier in thread

now do i go to rockingham or branshatch ?
