sky insurance are worth a call…
Doesn’t it have a lot to do with where you live?
Do you live in Beirut, or somewhere similar Nick?
Nothing to do with location mate. Its cheap under my name, just expensive for her - It would seem insurance for women under 30 has gone through the roof!
Best quote we’ve had so far is with Admiral Multicar. 560 for the TT, and 200 for the corsa. Leaving my Exige with CCI though - the Admiral group are not great for modified cars.
is the no claims in her name? Does the insurance go mad when you are the policy holder and she is the named driver? Wonder why it has got so bad?
Yeah, the no claims is in her name. Tried every comibination under the sun yesterday on Elephant, but its seems its cheaper for me to insure with her as a named driver even with no no claims on the second car.
Seems silly really, we have 3 cars to insure and they’ll all end up in my name at this rate!
She can transfer the no claims to you if you have been named on her policy for long enough

Didn’t you see my post above?
They’ve been fantastic for me on my car. They didn’t care about carbon, brakes, suspension etc. I simply told them everything that it had. They don’t care about engine swaps, just bhp. When I was quoted the policy went up by 90 for an additional 26% and it went DOWN by 60. Also every extra car you add makes all the others cheaper. You should get a quote for sure, but the beefit of CCI is the 5 track days they include.
My experience of them was very bad when it came to mods on my Exige, ended up with REIS and my A3 with Audi.
They just didn’t seem to understand and could not quote and told me if it was wrong I might not be insured and the final nail in the coffin was the value of the car in the event of total loss, they would not even include it was a “Sport and Touring” so was worth more than a standard car. It became a no brainer for me to move…

Nick be very, very careful - don’t mess about when disclosing who is the “main driver” of a particular car - they may well void the policy in the event of a claim… be dead straight, pay the extra quids, & sleep easy “Fronting” as it is known is a favourite for parents insuring their kids cars, & Ins Cos aren’t daft!!!
Mr P is right, but most some policies do not count wives\husbands in the same way. They are really looking for people insuring others or children’s cars to cut premiums. These days insurance companies charge based on the worst risk driver, this is why these quotes seem so odd to me.
it does help if you name someone else as a named driver, especially if they are older, just for the odd occasions that your parent or someone needs to drive the car.
As for Admiral, I gave them the value of my car, they know the exact model from the reg/chassis number, and so insure it accordingly.
They don’t cover the value of the mods, but it is insured for what it would cost me to replace.
I’ve been insured with elephant before (Admiral group). They dont give you the value of mods, which in my car adds upto quite a bit. Particulary now I’ve got the GT3 kit! They also don’t include for track days - CCI are very good in regards to this.
I tried the Multicar policy because of your suggestion. Its looking the favorite option, and there is nothing untoward in terms of named drivers as we’d be insuring correctly.
Interestingly, I too have always found adding parents lowered the premium. Not the case on the quotations I had from admiral.
Just being pedantic, & for clarity (sorry to go on about this), there is a difference between “main driver”, & “named driver”. Would hate you to have a problem, if owt goes wrong.
Seeya on the 29th, all being well
Make sure that you have any options clearly defined in the cover with Admiral, and that in the event of theft or damage these are covered correctly to the full value, there are scare stories out there

Thats not what I said, otherwise Id be insuring the TT under may name with her as a named driver - 396 with Admiral. The multicar policy doesnt work like that, you state who is the main driver or shared driver for each car (which weve done correctly).
To be honest, I think we might just go with CCI anyway with me as a named driver. Still not convinced with the multicar policy anyway.
I’ll explain it all on the 29th
