Attn: Gamers

Yes, the PS3 is upon us, and the Xbox 360 has been out a while, but if you’re looking for some cheap gaming, Argos are offering:

1x Xbox + controller
1x Forza Motorsport game
1x Project Gotham 2 game
1x Fable
1x Halo2

All for the princely sum of 49

Blime, that’s a whole lot of winter driving fun!

It’s not that obvious from the webpage that it’s free (since the games pack is 79) but read on and it says

"Buy the Xbox console (567/1867) and get Forza/Halo 2/Project Gotham Racing 2/Fable (568/0858) free. To receive this offer please add items to trolley. Offer ends 24th December 2006. "

That’s my X-mas present!

Thanks for the tip!

If you get the Xbox 360, you can get the Force feedback wheel in December

If you’ve never played a driving sim with force feedback, I think you will be mightily impresssed.

Yeah but my MOMO Logitech one that works great with GT3 on the PS2 doesn’t work with GT4 - grrr

Gaming wheels come in two varieties these days 270o (ish, lock-to-lock) and 900o (much more like a real car). Make sure whatever you get works with the game you want.

That said, it’s blooming excellent when it does!

Ian

I’ve never found a wheel that works. Even the Lotus one is crap

Controls seem to be just on or off, so spend more time zig-zaging across the track.

Shame as I’d quite like a wheel that works so I can still do trackdays when it’s cold, wet and raining outside. Also cheaper if you stack the car, you can’t just press re-set if you’ve lost it at the bottom of craners

We went into Argos last night to pick up the Xbox. How pikey is that place? Used to be good back in the 80’s

So is there any wheel that works well with this old X-box that we bought?

Sorry Uldis, I don’t think there’s a good steering wheel for the Xbox.

The new one for the Xbox 360 should be good.

Steve, the Lotus steering wheel, like most others doesn’t have force feedback. It’s just not worth buying any wheel that doesn’t have this feature. Unfortunately, they tend to cost at least 80 notes, and then they’ll only work on one system. I wish they were standardised so you can use the same wheel for playstation and Xbox.
