Hi all.i have an exige and work for morrisons. in case theres the chance of any richard hammond jokes yes i work at morrisons . yes my nameis richard and yes i work on the fish .right thats out of the way. im after some advice as im quite simply desperate to sort this problem out. for the last 11 years i have worked there and at some point or another had a lotus whether it be elise elan or now exige and for 11 years i have been able to park the lotus round the side by the canteen window. Now the boss there has altered things slightly saying he wants the feckin customers to be able to park closer to the shop so you guessed it richard go and move you car to the furthest point away from the shop. you know that place where all the boy racers skaters and kids hang out.!
how do you think i feel about this putting the lotus out there on its own. he advised me not to come to work in it if it bothers me to get an old banger that i wouldnt mind kids knockin or doors bangin on it. or better than that a bike!!!
i said you gotta be jokin and he said if you dont move your car right this instant then i will suspend you for not complying with a reasonable management request. to which i said you think its reasonable and i do not!!!
the choice i got right now is either park it where he says and get done over walking to and from it or risk damage theft etc etc or get suspended for not moving it form is original parking place.
i want to keep the exige as a daily runner and think i have rights to park where i deem is safe
what do i do??? was gona get tracker to ring work up every half hour or so to say someone set it off just to annoy!
i tryed everything and no its not that bad but its principle. he always moves me and yet anyone else can park there as he doesnt know what they drive. its discrimination against a lotus and im not happy with that!
what car does your manager drive? it would be a crying shame if his got damaged/keyed in the car park by some unscrupulous youth, might make him change his mind…! Personally id be tempted to apply to another supermarket as i wouldn’t want to work for your manager. Sounds like an utter twat if he doesnt value the welfare of his staff.
dont blame u at all for wanting to keep an eye on your car. Mine has been badly keyed in the car park at work which customers share with staff. �2300 damage.
hi all.grateful for your comments and to answer some of the questions. im in a union and they feels i have a case but is a rigmaral im not sure i can go through.i also dont see why i should have to. the area manager isnt a car fan as like him and my boss they all get there cars payed for and petrol and expenses. my boss drives a battered celica. was nice in its day but as he isnt bothered about it its gone to the pits now. like the idea of an unfortunate accident to it though he he! i have had my tire let down once to and every time i fin work you can guarantee there is some kids or yobbos up there. i have today managed to creep down the edge of the car park without being told to move yet. and i deem it to be much safer than up top.also in view of a cctv camera.so im slightly happier now.
feel like organasing a lotus meet on the car park and then saying to him
“its not mine boss” cant move it for ya!
i cant understand how such a boss can be happy knowing im niggled all day long and not working 100% effectively. im one of his dept managers 2!
i have been tempted to go elsewhere but truth is i love being richard hammond!

I could buy your car off you and give you a lift to work every day then do my shopping. As a customer I would be able to park in pole position. Mind it takes me ages to do my shopping, you’d probably have finished your shift when I get done which would be handy coz I could give you a lift home.
Maybe I’m misinterpreting something here but at the risk of sounding unsimpathetic maybe you should park where all the other staff have to park and if there has been a managerial decision to open up the area you currently park in to ‘customers only’ then I guess it tough titty!

point being . for a period of eleven years i ahve been able to park round the side where the car is in view of the canteen window. there have been previous incidents here staff have come to me and said. rich theres kids round the car. so far thankfully anyone has been genuine onlookers that are interested but now i have been forced to park out of sight. the staff area for parking is not sectioned off just told you can park there but customers are also able to. i bought it up in a meeting off all the managers and they all said well it doesnt bother me where i dump my car it gets scratches dents and allsorts happen to it ok! but not mine. i actually care for the car and funny enough am not happy for that abuse to it!
it actually wouldnt be so bad if like you say it was staff only as then you would know who you were next to all day but as customers also use the area to its not safe.
as i say lately i have edged down into sight of the canteen window and also in view of a local cctv camera.
it says on the sign as you drive in customers park there cars at own risk and so i said ok i will park it where i deem to be safest. i think i speak for everyone here that we are just a little bit careful where and what we park next to.
for now im not having any trouble but you can guarantee misery guts will moan again!
