Prior to taking delivery of my Exige in March, I want to get the stonechip prone areas protected - my VXT I had armourfended and then following an accident where the front had to be resprayed, Specialised Paintwork in Reading recommended Paintshield.
I understand Armourfend are back on the scene and that also from doing a search there is a Lotus solution as well.
So, as a bewildered buyer, does anyone have any view on what is best/best value. What have people paid and for what i.e. just front, side sills etc?
It all looks bad after a period of time, so unless you are the type of person that has plastic roll on your carpet and plastic covers on your sofa, I wouldn’t bother.
Why pay so much for distressed jeans and then worry about a few stonechips?
Mine is quite heavily stonechipped in certainareas but i see it that the paint is a consumable part on the car - nothing that a respray won’t fix and in the meantime i treat thenm as badges of honour.
tbh, I was really impressed with the plastic on my silver vxt. You couldn’t tell it was there from any distance and didn’t discolour. Also, I reckon it saved some damage when a car in front’s numberplate fell off and whacked the clam - nothing other than some small scratches.
I’m not overly precious with my cars but I know i’d soon get hacked off with a pock marked front, no matter how much of a badge of honour
i had armourfend on my old exige, very good it was too. Could hardly tell it was there, didnt deteriorate over the 18 months i had it, and did a good job of protecting the paintwork
however, it came with the car, and i will not be paying for it to be added to the new one - make of that what you will!!

look at the same product that’s been on a car a bit longer
