Arch Liners

Hi All,

I’ve discovered some rather large wear holes in my front inner arches. Having a dig through search and history, this seems to be quite common?

As there are pipes becoming exposed and I don’t want those to be worn by the tyre, so I’d like to replace. I’ve found SJSportcars list them on their website. Any other sources that I should look at?

Cheers
Ferg

Hi Ferg,

The DeRoure website lists them too - (www.deroure.com) though the prices used by both are likely to be exactly the same. I’ve bought from SJ in the past and they’re good to deal with.

A good repair is some old lino or similar Stikaflexed over the holes…after all if it has happened once it will happen again

That’s good news I thought they were like rocking horse poo, I’ll get some of those soon then.

apparently I heard the revised arch liner have different shape on the top part so is less likely to rub?

Brilliant info, thank you.

I like the lino repair and will note that if it just comes right back again, I’m working my round the car fixing various bits so going to start by replacing these.
Potentially revised shape is promising. I’ll compare when the old ones come off.

So I have now ordered a set from SJSportcars. They have to quote on these as they don’t carry stock. Delivery time 7-10 days, so purchased and looking forward to them arriving.

:sunglasses:

Let me know a final price after they’ve quoted please as I need to order some soon

me too

New liners are indeed a different shape and rub less. Stiffer springs and dampers also help but again they will rub. I use thick plastic and duck tape over the holes. Chinese take away boxes taped on also work where there is room, obviously the box on the inside. Duck tape is also a good idea for the headlight access grommets, save the grommets in the garage.

You would never get such creative opportunities with a Porsche.

Do you use crispy-duck tape

Loads…in fact ‘won ton’ of the stuff!

You could also try running a beefier anti-springroll-bar

Whatever way you look at it your original wheel arch liners are probably sesame-toast

Very funny chaps - prawn crackered me up no end,

Dim-Sum good ideas on this thread I hope the OP is happy, the last thing you want is anything behind the liners to get shredded-beef

I’ll definitely be dumpling my old set

hope you’ve got some spare ribs then.

I guess its to be expected that these things wear out,…the cars were built 15 years ago and they’re not getting any foo-yung’er

 I may get more than just szechuan set!

Won’t that cost an absolute fortune cookie

You’re all a spicy wing short of a combination starter!

All told it came to just over £200 including delivery, so pretty much as advertised on the site. There is a good 2 week lead time on them too. A little pricey maybe from some point of view but if they are later type and it’s an improvement then worth it to stop the various gubbins they protect from taking the brunt of what the wheels kick up. I’m thinking specifically of the various pipes that I’m sure are a much bigger pain and cost to replace if you hole them.

I’ll update when I get them.
