Approved oils?

Hi All,

I understand my mechanic puts Volvoline Synpower in my engine. Is this product as good as the recommended oils in the Lotus handbook, or are there other oils that I should be asking for at the next service?

Not a recommendation, more a comment, Bell & Colvill use Shell Optimax, and they service a lot of Loti.

I think Ian actually means Shell Helix Ultra…not sure about the lubrication properties of Optimax

All major brand fully synthetic oils of the correct weight will do the job. There is very little difference, although all the manufacturers will tell you theirs is best by miles. I used to be sponsored by Silkolene, and they told me this when I was picking my free consumables quota.
