AP DISK BEDDING IN PROCEDURE?

As it says on the tin!

Just fitted my replacement AP front disks from Elise Parts who, as usual, gave a very good service. (Thx guys!)

There seems to be quite a difference in the recommended ‘bedding in’ procedures given by Elise Parts and AP themselves.

AP reckon to do 60-30 mph gentle braking for 100 miles, then gradually increase.

EP say increasing hard stops from 70-5 mph. They also say for ‘race’ the 4 80-5 mph then 2 100-5 mph stops.

Can anyone out there with AP’s cast any advice please… I want to get these properly bedded in before Oulton!

BTW, my pads are nearly new Pagid RS42.

Cheers,

Pete.

Pete

When I fitted AP rotors, I also fitted new pads. I bedded the lot in as suggested by EP - although must admit to not having done any prior research on the specific subject of bedding in the rotors, it’s just the way I bed in new pads!

Seems to have worked just fine for me!

Anyway, you’ve got a reasonable journey to Oulton to try some gentle (& hard) braking

I presume you’ve got a place @ Oulton, or is it down to plan B (which is fine btw)?

Pete,

From the AP bible like you said:-

AP clickity link

Should be ok this way with the RS42s as they’re not too aggressive frictionwise. You’re just aiming to get a few complete heat cycles through the disc and bell as gradually as possible, similar to trackdays try not to use the handbrake when you stop either.

Hi Rob,

If my wife can get the day off, yes Oulton will be on… I cannot get my 2 boys in my Exige!!!

Will know hopefully tonight… and thanks again for plan ‘B’ mate.

I presume you’ve got a place @ Oulton, or is it down to plan B (which is fine btw)?

Rob,

Yes I had a very viable plan ‘A’… but cannot use… I will let that news develop for ‘fairness’ to all!!

PM sent, but cannot get a ‘green card’ so all I can say is… have a great time!!!

CHeers,

Pete.

Cheers Pete…

I’m sure Mrs S is a nice person, really

(ONLY kidding, Mrs S, honest. )

She is LOVELY

(And she also know how to access and type in www.exiges.com!!!

I know - hence hedging my bets in the above post
