just had a look at elise parts and wondered why the AO48 are cheaper than the AO39?
am i ok to put the AO48 on a MK1 with regard them not being specified tyres for the insurance?
I’m running 048’s at the moment - they wear out very quickly compared to 039’s (and they wear fast!
048 rears about 4000miles - 039 rears about 5-6000. Fronts twice as long. Careful driving.
039’s better in the wet.
Both crap in snow.
oh and 048 way better as a dry weather tyre
Though 039’s are better than most

If think you’ll be fine, otherwise Kwik-Fit would cause all sorts of problems every time they fit different tyres to any car.
I don’t think Uldis had any insurance probs when his Toyos (much more of an issue) caused him to end up in a ditch.

You’re right there.
Also, bear in mind that at some stage Lotus recommened the A048 for the Exige S1 as an upgrade (don’t remember where I saw it but I’mm pretty sure).
