these ao48’s are costing me a fortune.
and since the CN upgrade, the car is ripping through the rears even faster.
thoughts on running full slicks for dry trackdays ?

Haven’t yet, but probably will for trackdays in the future… my suspension setup is kinda a halfway house between semi slick and slick setup and able to be adjusted for both if needs be.
It’s quite common for people to run full slicks over here on trackdays, although most people use second-hand castoffs from the GT3 cup cars or the NZV8s… and as such aren’t actually a lot faster than using a good semi-slick.
If the A048s are shredding quickly then you will probably need a hard compound slick. I’m using kumhos in the k60 compound which are similar to the A048 compound for wear, the harder compound are k90 which would be worth a go.
An alternative would be Dunlop slicks in a X02 (hard) or X12 (medium hard) compound
I use Dunlop Soft/mediums. I can get up to 10 heat cycles out of them before grip levels drop away to what I think is below that of 048s. By that stage the wear markers don’t even look touched so never think that because there’s a lot of rubber left they’ll still give lots of grip. They’re currently approximately 730 a set new for Exige sizes.
The trouble is with slicks and trackdays is that you put them through a lot of heat cycles in one day, but if it’s not grip you’re after then even relatively soft slicks will last a decent amount of time.
Not all track day organisers allow slicks but I’v never seen anyone check.
I guess if you have an accident the insurance boys will get techy.
Best stick to “legal” tyres in my view
does anyone know where I can get hold of some slicks ?
Best slicks we have used for an S1 Exige were some Pirrelli’s in GT Cup a couple of years ago.
Took a couple of laps longer to come good, but then stayed at that level for a long time, no matter how many heat cycles they went through. Only changed them mid season as logic said they still cant be as good as they were, but only gained a tiny bit. Don’t use their wets in Exige size though!!
They were a little more expensive than Yoko’s, and I know a couple of people didn’t get on with them, but our cusotmers car went quicker than it had even been, even with slightly less power than the year before.
