Hey, just wondering if any of you guys stay nearby? I live in helensburgh about 20mins (in my exige) outside glasgow?
I convinced my mate to go lotus and he is testing the water with an s1 135r but it would be nice to meet other owners in the area. We are a very rare breed up here!
Koopa,
There are a few of us up here in Aberdeen - 3 maybe 4 i think. Get yourself onto Scottish Elises at yahoo if you havent done so already. They are always organising runs and trackdays. Unfortunately i’ve yet to make it to any of these due to work commitments during the last year (offshore, etc) but definately aim to meet up with them soon. Where did you end up buying your exige from? - it was a nightmare when i was looking for one as there didnt seem to be any for sale in Scotland at all
Scott
hi scott
ill try log onto them tomorrow. Theres some smashing roads around here, it would be a shame to let them be enjoyed by motorcyclists all the time!! When i was looking there was only one in glasgow… a green 190 and it was pretty rough. I ended up travelling to manchester to get mine! worth the travel though!

That would originally have been John Cunningham’s car, & latterly owned by Steve (now driving a Motorsport Elise) then?
Now, this is interesting? I bought the car, reg Y335 CEY off a guy called Steve Taylor. He ran a place called kinetic security products? Now pesky, when idrove the car back from manchester after finishing the deal i noticed a very noticable rattle when cruising at 70 mph between 3-4k rpm in all gears. As a result i put the car into my local dealers who are adamant its a fault with the top end. I had the car for 4 days and it needed the top end stripped down. They still havent found the cause of the rattle and i reckon its going to cost me over a grand! All for a car i just bought!!! I contacted steve and he was not very helpful at all. Basically - i have your money , its your problem. Do you know of any history on this car? I would definatly appreciate some info

John is a member here, logs on as “OrangeX” Do a search on the “Users List” & you’ll find his email etc. IIRC he had a HGF (head gasket failure) fixed by Nick Whales, & his car ran very well after that. I’ve briefly met Steve at Anglesey last year, but that was just after he’d bought the Motorsport Elise (off Barrie Whight) & he was basically trying it out for either the first or second time. Beyond that, I can’t help further, sorry.
Pesky, is that the silver and blue one, with the Edwards diffuser? If so he was at Rockingham on Sunday. Hardly any running sadly, after an exhaust gasket went.

No Ian, the blue/silver one was Gav’s racecar in 2003, & was run by Team Jedi last year in the British GT series.
Steve Taylor’s car is now red, although it was green/yellow when he bought it from Barrie.
Koopa,
The green one may have been the Exige I sold 2 years ago. It wasn’t “rough” when I sold it back to Murray Motors. Disapppointing to hear it hasn’t been cared for since and only seems to have done about 500 miles at most since I sold it.
What was wrong with it?
Hi Koopa,
I guess you’ve eliminated all the usual rattles before deciding it was an engine noise. FWIW I had a similar problem on a K series engine which had been repaired (cheaply) following a melted piston.
There are quite a few exiges around Scotland, 4 in ABZ that I know of and I’m sure several in the central belt. As mentioned go to the Scottish elise website for local info. There are also some very knowledable people on there who could probably give you a second opinion on the engine problem.

thanks for the help guys, to be honest ally, mechanically the car seemed fine but the company now in posession of the car have not presented it well. killermont they are called. its just horrendously dirty chipped and baldy front tyres.
Well if you get the paintwork fixed, its well worth putting protection film on afterwards. A wee run with the SE mob and it will soon be chipped again.
But heh, better to use the car than spend all day polishing.
Kerry
ha ha not my car kerry, the green one. dont worry mine is nicely chipped and i plan on getting many more
Hi Koopa
I stay in Dunfermline, however during the week I live and work in the base up the road from you, when the weather gets a bit better I’ll start bringing the Exige through, so if you fancy a blast some night let me know, must agree with you about the roads up there, many a time I’ve gone out for a quick run and seem to end up at the “rest and be thankful”. Word of advice, you want to stay away from the Scottish Elise boys, especially the ones from Aberdeen, seems most of them are known as trouble makers by our wonderful local constabulary, I even think one of the ringleaders may even hang around this forum
Dave
oops… hi dave… by the way dya know they set a road block up on Sunday to catch em all for having non-compliant reggie plates and stuff… pathetic…
koopa
i’m nearby as well so we could go for a jaunt and a coffee or something… I know your car from when John Cunningham had it… but that was nearly 3 years ago now…

Hi Mike
As you say it was a bit pathetic, better dig out my normal size plate and put the cat back on for the TT2005 run, as know doubt they’ll be out to try and stop our fun although with almost 70 lotus’s going it should be good a laugh seeing them trying to catch us all.
Are you going to KH next Friday?
Dave
