There’s no need for that kind of language Russ.
Sorry Bob, should have said Rotary Wankel.
BMW Mpower straight six with gearbox behind the engine?
Mmmm…M power would be nice!

i’ve been wondering if this was possible for a while.
it would be nice
was also thinking s2000 engine if poss
The V6 is shorter than an I4 so its a bit better for longitudinal installation as they did for the 2002 Vemac RD320 (god I love this thing)

Vemac also used to mount the B18C Honda longitudinally in teh RD180

But nowadays the K20 engined RD200 is transverse which just looks wrong.
Ultimately the make a Mugen V8 engined racer…mmmmmm

(scrap what I said about the S2000 engine, prototype shelved it)
what gearbox is that on the s2000 engine, cant be the std on as its huge!
erm - is that an FC20 anyway?
Out with it Jason!!
Sorry it’s taken a while to find the time to post an update. Coming along nicely, mounts have been laser cut and cnc machined. Measuring up took ages but it was worth it.
Motor is mazda 2l, as used in the orange car, but with the mazda box. the rover was orgonally going to be used but we would have to throttle the engine back to not break the box. There are 3 cars in the pipeline. Mine, another exige s1 and and elise s2.
I am only itching a little bit to get it going luckily start up is not to far away, need to plumb in the turbo and the rest is plain sailing, relatively speaking of course.
Power wise I am hoping for 1000hp, but realistically it will propably not be that much at altitude , just kidding, have some figures in minbd but I won’t spark a debate the engine will make what it makes, which will be more than enough I am quite sure

Jason,
Any particular reason you went with the Mazda engine? It looks like that iron block would be quite heavy.
Mike
Well lets try this again, it didn’t take my last update a few minutes ago.
The motor was chosen because of the track record of the orange car, it is a known entity for our requirements. Parts are cheap and easily available, apart from the quaife diff, but that should be here soon. The weight of the iron block is a factor but it is outweighed by the reliability it offers.

Few hundred small jobs left but the big bits are done.

How bloody long does it take write a book, which will mostly be pictures of dyno graphs anyway?
PS Are you going to change your name to “Majestic Mazda”?

It will take as long as it takes, they are full color pictures I’ll have you know also my son took all his crayons back which has severly effected the torque curve
It’s nice but just not regal enough
