another brake question

I would like some experiences from people. I have seen what everybody is using for brake configuration, but every configuration has it costs.

850kg car Including driver and full tank of fuel. Quantum 475/550 suspension with helper springs.
Duratec 2.0 engine (150whp) that soon is going to be upgraded to tuned Duratec 2.5 ( around 250whp is the current goal )
Currently on grooved discs with Pagid 4-2 all around and 5.1 brake fluid ( fresh once a year, bleeding by hand )
Currently on AD08-R tyres.
I brake short/hard. ( press subtle for very small time to set the car, then press fully, as if riding a motorcycle )

Problems :

  • Brake is not consistent. After 15 minutes tracktime I begin to notice that the braking power is less and more pressure on the pedal is needed, and that doesnt really help. ( Especially on tracks like Zolder ( 1:52,8 laptime) Spa is less problematic )
  • Lack of brake power. It is not like I am going to hit the windshield, the wheels will never lock unless in the rain.

Idea what I have is going to AP 295 front, Elise parts belled discs rear. Pagid 4-2 front and 1-4 rear and add air cooling to the front center of the discs.
But I am afraid it will not add much brake power.
Already considered doing a swap to S2 uprights, 4 pots up front, 2 pots rear, etc. but the costs are huge and not sure what I will really win.

As a cheapish test, fit some different manufacturer pads. This may be enough to sort out your issues. And get some of the AP brake paint, as it may save you a lot of money and needless effort on the ducts.

I personally would try some performance friction pads up front… a similar setup with the standard calipers worked well for me for years.

I was struggling with Pagids, tried CL delamination 5’s and then put some PF in at Anglesey courtesy of JDS and have not looked back … well only to see the clouds of dust
