Just got home, had a great day as always
Sorry to anyone I did not get a chance to say hello or goodbye too, ended up making a quick dash as I wanted to beat the traffic.
Big thanks to Pesky for sorting it out yet again and booking the weather for us, also thankyou to everyone for buying the t-shirts and taking part in the group photo.
It was nice to meet some of Con’s family, I hope they all had a great day and hopefully we will see some of them back next year.
I am putting my t-shirt into storage now ready for next years day, I wonder if I will get away without washing it…
Well done, Boothy, to you and all who put so much effort into Con’s memorial; also to Pesky for shepherding the Exige flock to Anglesey. . .
I took this on my phone as we were getting ready for the group shot.
Thanks Pesky for organising another brilliant Exiges day.
I’ve just got home and off loaded the car from the trailer. I’m absolutely cream crackered after a fantastic day. Hope everyone else gets home ok and RAC free.
I checked the dash and I’d done 156 track miles, which summarises just how much fun I must have been having.
It was great to meet more people in person and put faces to names. Track manners were respectful as usual.
Brilliant trip! Well done Pesky - I do like the colour scheme, mate.
Good night out last night with the crew in Llangefni and good to catch up again!
Sean - thanks for taking me in your motor - you sure can drive it well. My rear suspension went in the last hour and so I do need to get a new set sorted out.
Great couple of days!
Mark
No worries matey.
Great day had by all it seems.
Thanks Pesky - bit of a mixture of highs & lows. Great organisation and the tributes to Con were quite moving.
Few dramas - getting a puncture going round church, then after keeping the car on the track wondering how the hell I was going to get home - Many thanks to Phil for taking me to Rhosneiger to get the tyre plugged, and saving the day.
Took a leisurely route home via Bets-y-coed the next day, only to have a fuel line rupture as we were leaving - luckily the car was cold, and it didn’t ignite. So, it was a 2 hr wait for recovery and a long slow trip home on the back of a wagon.
Bloody hell Steve, sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Could of been much worse though with the fuel line going. Where exactly did it split and what do you think caused it?
It split on a short 5cm section between the fuel filter & the Tee off for the pressure regulator (tank return)
It appears that the fuel lines had been moved out of the way causing a sharp 90 deg kink in this short piece of line. I assume this was done when the clam was taken off to repaint it to keep the lines out of the way, as they usually looped into the side of the clam
Luckily the point at which it split meant it sprayed away from the engine.
I’m now considering if I can make up a new set of lines with some CuNi hard piping and a minimum of flexibles in there and possibly a removable cover for the fuel filter / regulator / tank lines area to prevent any major leaks spraying around the engine bay with just a single hard line emerging to go to the fuel rail and a short flexible to connect them. This should minimise the risks of a big engine bay fire
Flexi’s are important for vibration and engine movement and stuff and the regulations that Lotus would have had to of adhered to with the OE fuel system would be pretty Comprehensive. I would say simply replace the broken stuff with brand new OE stuff and make sure it is installed correctly and not inked like before.
When you change things like that on a road car and god forbid you have an insurance claim, they are not going to look to favourably on a non OE fuel setup.
Sean - Thanks for the advice, but its not exactly standard as its been honda’d. The whole system is made up of flexibles at the moment, so putting some hard lines back would actually make it more like the OEM system - guess they did that for a reason
Oh, sorry matey, I had it in my head you had a Toyota S2.
