Anglesey - Good Friday 18th April 2014

hmmm, perhaps a bit overkill for what i need…

Agree though the quality of the footage and viewing angle are very good.

The 6D was only used for the stationary shots at the start.

I did run the 6D in the car for the afternoon session but concluded it was too much of a faff:

  • all the buttons on the wrong side with no visual/audio indicator it’s running
  • manual everything- exposure/focussing etc
  • heavy so suffer with vibration on a non damped mount
  • expensive with an L-lens on it!

Due to the points above and user-error it actually captured no footage from the afternoon!!

So the good news is all the in-car, out-of-car stuff I did is attainable with a cheapo camera. I used a Camsports HDMax Extreme which is a couple of years outta date. I had a look and you can buy them for about £250. I think the narrower angle suits in-car better than Go-Pro. It also has a remote release that flashes red when running and a laser-level to check its straight. They typically all use the same technology inside anyways.

I’d phone up Dogcamsport, say your mate has an HDMax, what is today’s equivalent?

Also budget for a mount. I actually used the Dogcamsport £20 mount for the outside shots and a Superclamp on the harness bar inside.

Do it!!

I’m surprised nobody asked before

It’s a British band called The Cinematic Orchestra from their 2003 album The Man with the Camera. Their music is used a lot in TV. I know their pianist Nick ‘the Professor’ Ramm, an insanely talented man.

Thank-you
I’ll go and look them up

Hmmmm , smooth. Nice

Muu you beat me to it by 2 seconds!

Bit like my lap times!

Good news Gav that looks like a great, the boys at Dogcam are great and you can be sure that a kit they’ve put together will be real quality.

Looking forward to seeing some footage :sunglasses:

yeah that’ll be a real quality camera
