Anglesey 2016

Yeah I should have been clearer.

Last year there was 60 spots and we filled them all. Nobody complained about over-crowding (not to me or Jonny at least!). The event has always run with 60 spots to my knowledge. This year the agreement I had with Jonny was to do the same again.

Last week, I asked BAT to give me a view on how many were on the reserve list and the list came back also stating that all 50 spots were filled (along with the names in reserve). Realising that a mistake had been made I asked BAT to adjust the number of places back to 60 thus creating some headroom which I posted about.

I tried to negotiate free second drivers this year but with free garages and pax monies to charity it was once again not something I was able to secure. I honestly did try though.

I sincerely hope that all exigers attending feel they get VFM out of the £240+pax fees that they chuck in BATs direction. Likewise I also hope that it is a profitable event for BAT, they’re an expanding business that are ultimately trying to boost their coffers.

Please drop me a pm, post here or find me at Anglesey if you have any concerns whatsoever. My only agenda here is to do all I can to try and have an event similar to that which so many of us have enjoyed over the past decade or so.

That’s a shame! Is there a good reason, bad reason, sad reason, happy reason, etc?

Ben, we spoke the other week so you know my views.

For me the coastal circuit in the afternoon is a complete waste of time, there is just too much traffic on it and not enough overtaking places. The last couple of times i have been i have pretty much sat in a que all afternoon waiting to get around to the back straight to pass 3-4 cars(or at least try to) and then you get upto rocket and in a que again waiting for the back straight. The international track just works so much better for letting the faster cars by without the slower cars have to back off too much and they can still hit the braking zones with some good speed. Its essentially half a day’ trackday for me at a fulll days cost, add in the 300 mile journey each way and hotels and food it becomes expensive.

Dont get me wrong, i love seeing you guys but i also like to drive the car and i dont feel its great value for money in that respect.

That and the fact for the last few years i have only managed 2-3 trackdays a year it just becomes more of the same and id like to spend the money on doing something differnet. We have such a rich motorpsrt heritage here in the UK with many tracks, prehaps we should kook to go elsewhere in the future and mix it up abit.

Thanks Gav, I’m really glad you posted as it’s better coming from you (rather than me attempt to proxy our conversation) and also I don’t want you to think I did nothing about it.

I totally understand where you’re coming from and spoke to BAT. Jonny said we can change layout if we wish and even do a show of hands at the driver’s briefing if we wish. I’ve setup an Internet survey to ask everyone to express their view about this and a couple of other points I’ve just not had the opportunity to put it live yet.

If this proves a successful way of gathering opinion then perhaps we could use it to drive what we do next year. I share your view that we should maybe mix it up a bit. I think we do that post-event when everyone’s opinions and thoughts about how we could improve things are fresh.

It’s a real shame that you won’t be there Gav, seeing you and one of your fantastic machines is one of the elements that makes the day for me.

I’ll post up when I’ve had the opportunity to put the survey live…

Hear, hear, sorry we won’t be seeing you and the car, Gav

As per the above :

Could everyone attending the event click the link and answer a few questions as it would help me out…

Yup and I also agree with Gav’s point about the coastal circuit - for a “Turbo nutter” machine with a jetlagged, talantless driver the straights needs to be there

We also get the odd Porsche, they need a chance to get out of the way of the Loti.

Survey submitted.

Gav, can we change your mind?

Survey done - I’m easy in terms of track layout… the international would add that lovely 180’ for some nice drifts

so that’s what you’re spending your money on now…

Like you have a problem with that!

Guys, don’t forget that “noise” could be a showstopper for many regular Exiger attendees at other UK circuits.

Any road up, I’m sure you’ll have a fantastic day (or 2) in Anglesey this year. Great to see everyone’s enthusiasm for this event & special gratitude to Ben for driving the whole thing forward (& sideways on track!!!)

About a dozen or so responses so far, thanks lads. I’ll leave it open til the end of the week and then share the results.

Please if you’re attending the trackday please fill in the survey, it takes less than a minute. I’ll make the link bigger

Click here if you’re coming to Anglesey!

Survey completed. I know Steve won’t fill it in a he rarely comes on here. I know he likes the afternoon as his Clio seems very underpowered for the 2 extra straights in the international, I also know he would still come regardless of circuit layout, he loves the weekend

Unfortunately we have guests visiting us over Easter now, they arrive Good Friday so its still a no-go I’m afraid…

Bring’em along! Any friend of yours…

Survey done. Much prefer the international circuit.

Maybe a change of track next time?

******g hell you really are down in the dumps

Big fan of Anglesey personally :sunglasses:

That’s a shame Gav, you’ll be missed. I hope to see you out on circuit later on this year…

Love Anglesey a great circuit that delivers if you commit
