Having had a good look at 3-Eleven’s being built at Lotus Motorsport this afternoon they’ll be very fast on track. From the look of it everything has been turned up several notches over the old 4cyl cars.
Well done Pat Good luck over the next few weeks and keep up updated on progress. I think I speak for everyone in saying we can’t wait to see/hear the car
Great news too that Steve is joining us again Ade, wouldn’t be the same without him in the convoy eh!
Well I exchanged some emails with Steve at Oakmere Lotus about getting a 311,…alas their demonstrator does not arrive til later this year. They are however having a 311 preview evening 17th feb 5-8pm and if anyone wants to come and drool they will be plied with glasses of wine and nibbles.
I suggested he ask the factory if they’d like to bring it to Anglesey,…he said he’d ask.
Oh and …
1x PLACE REMAINING
So that’s Saturday taken care of.
Good stuff! Let us know if lobbying is required.
TBH we could all chip in a grand and own one or at least lease it
Hethel to Anglesey (300+ miles) and back again, on a bank holiday, paying a couple of lads from Lotus Motorsport double time, lapping Anglesey in the only fully built 3-11 in the world with the afore mentioned target on its back.
I’m sure Lotus would jump at the chance to come along!
Yes agreed but I figured its worth an ask. At the end of the day I’m guessing their intent is to sell some cars. An open invite to bring their new product to an event attended by 60+ hardened enthusiasts sounds like something someone in Sales & Marketing may think was worth it.
I wouldn’t hold your breath though lads…Steve from Oakmere will be there with the Sport 350 of course.
However valid, it would be a shame if that really was what has become of Lotus, they’ve done it before and got benefit from the track time. (Even if Hyla did break a toe-link at the end, of the new 240R if I recall correctly)
You’re not an accountant by day are you?
Makes you wonder how they ever managed to get the car to the Nürburgring
“Remember lads - only one fast lap as we’re up against the overtime budget”
Smaller than I imagined
Id love to see the 311 at Anglesey I really would. I mentioned Anglesey when I dropped my car off at Lotus Motorsport on Tuesday. The response was “great track. Bloody awful place to get to from Norfolk”.
Another anecdote was Lotus running a GT4 car at Oulton Park on a bank holiday weekend. The costs involved due to overnight stays and paying double time makes it horrendously expensive.
i hope it makes an appearance at Anglesey but can’t see it happening. If oakmere had their own 311 to use then game on.
Isn’t anywhere civilised difficult to get to from Norfolk though - they rather have the horse before the cart!
Indeed, maybe we should have next years event at Snett
Isn’t it an Exiges.com day with the majority in an Exige! Big THUMBS UP from me for bringing a 350 in the first place.
Personally I don’t much car about a 311, I don’t aspire to own one anyway.
Actually, well said that man - keep the overblown jelly mould away…
^^ this is actually my view too but I feel duty bound as your loyal servant to try and service all requests Having the factory there with a 311 would be the cherry on the cake but I don’t think I need any more reasons to look forward to this event!!
I reckon having the new Exige Sport 350 there with an enthusiastic petrol-head Lotus dealer (who is bringing his Caterham Academy car too to get some practice in) is very in-keeping with the exiges.com ethos. I’ll certainly be joining the queue for a pax, not that I’m really in the market for another car
I fear “the want” will be strong with the 350. Mrs K will hurt me if I even suggest a new car.
Never mind all this 3-11 stuff - I’ve only just got the OK to drive again from the doc. I was getting a bit twitchy I can tell you
Roll on fella’s. Good to hear you’re on the mend Paul.
Adam, you could do a ChrisexigeGT and not tell her, like I will soon
