Track day looming and I am already aware that the toe links probably need replacing. (Exige S) I really do not want to go to the cost of a full nitron modification at this point (Gpan used up this month’s beer money!)so intend to keep standard fit but use best available ball joints - Lotus OEM?
Advice and guidance gratefully received.
Thanks for all the help so far. As you can probably tell I am in start up mode with this car and planning the upgrades as required.
Your car is designed & built for fairly regular track use. Accordingly, & unless you are already a very experienced track driver, you are most unlikely to induce damaging oil surge, or break a toe link (high speed spins/mishaps excepted).
In saying that, it would probably be a good idea to upgrade the toelinks after you’ve done 10-15 trackdays & you intend doing plenty more. Same goes for a baffled sump etc.
I repeat - your car is well fit for the purpose you have in hand.

Enjoy the day…then book some more!

As above …and don’t get sucked in…like the rest of us…me included
I am still on the Lotus ones, however I must add the early S inner joint were made a cheese, get them checked and just replace with the OEM inner joint if there are worn
Really helpful reponses, thanks. Nice to be able to balance out the horror stories. I will 'relax’and enjoy the first track day after a good check over. See how ambitious I become after that.
My 56 plate S didn’t have the brace - I had it fitted, indeed this is probably a more appropriate upgrade than just changing the OEM links (unless they are clearly on their way out of course). I think the Super Sports pack cars had it as standard…
The S has the toe brace as standard anyway. When worn it’s worth considering the Motorsport version as a replacement.
It shouldn’t really be an issue unless to intend riding every kerb…flat out.
