American cars

Been riding round in this for the last few days. I’d write a review but it would be quite short…
Picking up another soft top tomorrow and I have asked for something different as we are cruising down the Florida coast and even though the 200 has a boot you could land a helicopter on there is nothing left once the roof is stowed for cases.
Looking for plus points if frank does fancy another boat without getting wet the 200 does a pretty convincing simulation. I know all about simulators after seven days in Orlando
Still one thing I do ‘get’ now after driving over here are muscle cars, I am in love with mustangs, Camero’s and some of these dodge things. Shame I could not run one at home.
Anyway here she is…

Enjoy the hol, Boothy! I take it is a hol and you’ re not servicing some old Florida boiler!

Swingers holiday ??

Yep it’s a holiday, well I need a rest in Naples now after Orlando tbh. Fun but tires you out. Wish I had a job where I could get over here tbh, I had never been before but love the states.
The people here are great, very polite and friendly and customer service is king. I have put on some weight though, 15 coke refills can do that to a guy.

Boothy,
I couldn’t agree more, the Americans are fantastic people. before meeting my wife I was convinced I’d end up working on old planes over there in Florida. A country stacked high with courtesy and they love and appreciate their heritage.

A few years ago I spent two weeks in Orlando with a mate doing all the boys and toys things including test driving a number of muscle cars. Have to agree with you, they really work in the states, maybe less so here.

A Roush-touched Mustang was my favourite

well after this anyway

Sounds like same trip we did last year andy. week in Orlando then week in Naples.

Hired one of these but they do convertables too

Have fun.

I have fond memories of driving across the Everglades in a roof down Mustang with Pink Floyd on the stereo. We then motored down to Key West via a short ‘gulf side’ beach holiday during which swimming with Manatee was an unexpected early morning highlight…

Lovely part of the world.

Why are you guys in bug infested no twisties Florida ? Califorina is where ya wanna be…

Sorry Frank - next time!

Well we got another 200, to say I am gutted is an understatement. It did its job and got us to Naples but virgin have had a roasting and will be getting another when I get home. Still Naples looks sweet from the drive in and after some constructive packing we got the roof down all the way so I am nicely pink now.
Frank, would love to do california and will hopefully in the next couple of years. The roads here are dull to say the least. The highlight of the trip was Steph asking for a veggie burger in BK and the look on people’s faces.

I’m in Vegas at the moment. Hopefully driving an aventador and a mp4-12c on Monday for a few laps.
Have to say most American cars I have driven have been pretty horrific, I still remember when we went to Canada for a wedding. We hired a Pontiac of some sort and the lady at the desk asked if we wanted the sport model for extra dollars. I asked what the difference was and she said that the sport had a spoiler on it!!
Car was bloody dreadful.

Stay away from buttons with the word Race on…and enjoy!

Two of the worst cars I’ve ever had the misfortune to pilot were in the US :

  • Chrysler Sebring - horrible
  • Lincoln Towncar - just awful in every conceivable way

The 200 is a facelift Sebring, the reviews said they improved it…

Incidentally my next door but one neighbour has a Sebring, he has a house in Florida and drove one while there. He liked it so much he bought one at home. His last car was a ssanyong though.
Clearly he just likes awful cars. I cannot think of anything worse than this car on our roads.

Chrysler Sebring is at the top of the shit scale. Why the Americans feel the need to give race car/track names to mundane cars is incredible. There’s another car out in states called grand prix, might have been a Pontiac and Jesus that was awful too.
Not sure about the run off ben, but supposedly I get 30 mins with instructor beforehand so I will see if I can scare him/her.

Note to self to do vagas ASAP.

He’s definitely your type…

I would but for that wonky eye
