Nothing really other than you’re forced into paying them to install. ECU and Injector swap would take an hour or two for most people with a basic toolkit.
There are a couple of options creeping back onto the market for reflashes of the OEM ECU to get the 260 upgrade, they’ve been doing it for ages in the US to varying levels of success but it seemed to be a quiet area of development in the UK for some reason.
It’s really cheap performance to be honest, I’d add a fuel pump to that combo though too.
Some people argue a pump is needed (namely, people who make fuel pump upgrades for the Elise platform ) and some people don’t. For me they’re cheap insurance and it’s just belt and bracer stuff when upgrading a car.
I recently had a 260 upgrade done by Elise Spares. Had a couple of teething issues but was promptly resolved. This was injectors and ECU reflash (black dash) for £1032 vat/delivery included in that price.
I then paid near to £300 for Injector upgrade. I wasn’t sure if it was needed or not but wanted to ensure the upgrades had a bit more security with an uprated pump system installed.
Total cost was £1300 with me doing the install of the injectors/fuel pump.
