I know this has been discussed at length but a search does not throw out my particular problem…
Car has been off road for 3 months…and now I find the battery light stays on for about 2 miles each time I use the car…I’m reluctant to disturb the alt if its unnecessary.
So anybody any suggestions ??
Have you checked that the cable connections are tight on the back of the alternator?

Perhaps all those bumps and rocks have loosened something!

That was on the boat I was on…No earthquakes in Long Melford yet…
I’m frequently told I have a screw loose so I’d better check again.
Cheers.

More info pls Clive?
if you keep the revs low … sometimes the voltge reguator / charge circuit does’nt kick in …
blip the throttle over say 2k and see if this enables charging ?
thanks JFK in fact the Alt charges at very low revs , something to do with pully sizes I guess.
I have not had the problem for a few days so maybe (hopefully) It will be Ok for a while.
Cheers
