Alpine radio project IDA-X001

Alpine radio updated IDA-X001

Updated the old alpine radio to Bluetooth using a cheap module from eBay this just plugs into the auxiliary on the back. You need to enable aux input in setup menu.
There’s plenty of room to fit module inside the radio too. I used case of radio soldered for ground & power from remote out / amp on off output as sometimes have radio in standby for the time display & don’t what phone connected if radio not fully powered up. The module only draws 40 mA of power so ok to use this output to power it.

It’s only basic Bluetooth I.e streaming music only, you can’t forward songs or control your phone from the radio. But I usually just put a play list on & have Waze voice through speakers too, mostly for the safety warnings / traffic alerts.

Also did some custom artwork for the display. This only works on this model of radio though. Alpine don’t support these themes anymore. You also need a usb lead unless you plug a memory stick into the rear plug on radio. The image is downloaded to memory on radio so no need to leave memory stick in & holds the info even with battery isolation switch.

If anyone wants the software or the image I can link to it. Or I can maybe do an Exiges. Com design  if any interest?

I have to say that as someone with an S1Exige with no radio, it’s a bit of a lost cause but thanks so much for giving us the information, none of which I understood, but great that you took the time to post. I hope that others with more luxuriously equipped vehicles take you up on it.

Having re-read my post I think it might come across as sarcasm. It was not intended to be. Just a weak (and failed) attempt at humour. Sorry

Lol, no worries Thommo

THanks, Dean
