Only ones I’ve seen are on David Fenn’s Motorsport Elise, & Matt Cummings’s S2 Exige.
IMHO, unless you’re seriously racing in endurance type events (Britcar etc, like those mentioned above), it must be a very expensive sledgehammer to crack a nut!
It is a great addition to a track-based car, but you do then open yourself to air supply, generators to refill them, airguns etc. Expensive, but if that is not a problem then it is a good solution to the needs you list.
I’d love them on my S2 too but its all about cost vs. return.
You can get an air jack kit from Lotus Sport. Its in their 2009 e-brochure. Seems like overkill for the reasons you list though. How many tire changes in a day at trackdays, and for wintering the car you’d need to put it on stands anyway.
I’m with Pesky, great for an endurance race car, but overkill for trackdays. Save the weight, and the cash.
BUT the additional weight is an issue,
one AP RACING Air Jack weighs aprox. 1 KG (2.2 lbs),
4 of those would result in an additional weight of 8 lbs
plus the generators, airguns, etc . . .
could end up with an extra ballast of 20 lbs !!!
Just been to Motorsport yesterday. They charged me GBP 45,- ex vat per hour. quite resonable I think. Sertainly with the available expertise around (less hours spent on your car hence lower overall labour costs).
I didn’t see the airjacks on the list, so I only ordered a front cage, kill switch and fire ext.
45 plus VAT per hour is a bargain rate for the expertise around - with a bit of luck, you’ll also get Gav Kershaw to set your car up on the test track
