Interested to know any tips for setting up the the air intake pipe so that it’s directed as close as possible to the air intake scoop. Mine tends to hang to the right a bit. May be minimal gains but I prefer the idea of fresh air pulled directly in.
Think the general consensus is to have it not pointing directly at the incoming airflow to stop it sucking in water, but with a couple of extra long cable ties, you can pull it towards the scoop and at a 45 deg angle. Interestingly enough, the hose is directional! Think you’ve removed the 2nd filter at the airbox too?
Yep one of many projects during lockdown, I now have the air filter located at the air scoop end away from the airbox and now directed towards the air intake courtesy of good advice on here and thanks to cable ties. That and sorting a loose throttle linkage in the pedal box has produced some most welcome results 
It is important to make sure a big puddle of water cannot be injested into the engine. The Exige does have a large air box so it’s unlikely and it will just puddle in the box. What’s important is the hose is open in a cold air space. The ram effect of pushing cold air into the hose is pretty much non existent at sub-sonic speeds so pointing the hose at the intake is not important, a cold air feed is.
Anybody changed their standard foam witches hat for a cotton gauze (K&N etc.) type? Does it make any difference to the induction noise?
I have the k&n filter but have not noticed any change in the induction noise.
Mine will be a nice weather car being it mainly used in northern Italy .

That looks very neat but I would cut some holes in the bottom of the pipe to let water out. It’s the risk of a torrent getting sucked into the engine, you will then need a new engine. Happen to a friend’s Audi. Air intake is at the base of the grill. Saturday lad washed the car, engine and car was a right off. The garage had to pay our full value.
I used to have my S1 Elise like you have but I got a sharp knife and cut a lot of slots in the hose. The engine will still get the cold air, just not the water! Hope that’s useful.
