I am after a quick fix that does not involve hours of leaning over the engine bay, de-skinning my knuckles, loosing my patience, the will to live or resulting in another visit to the Dave Walkers to remap the Emerald.
I can’t find anyone who sells the original cone filter, (looked at Bell & Colevill, Elise shop, Elise Parts site) but found this;
Only ever used the oem Pipercross on my VHPD Harvey, but given the difficulty in locating a new one, I’d definately try the K&N. You’ll be surprised how much crap it will collect!
Are you looking just for the cone thing Harvey?
If that is what you want I should have one in the garage you can have as was left over after I fitted an ITG to my S1
Hanger 111 have the original ones (see same section on their site) BUT you will need a short length of carbon tube to join it on to your air hose.
They also have a K&N one to go on the end of the hose (as you have found). Again you will need a short length of carbon tube to join it on or…you could use the kitchen duct joining tube…as I did.
Fitting of the sock filter takes about 5 minutes (if you have the connector). Filter goes into the airbox, clamp with very large hose clip. Joining tube goes in the other side of the filter and hose pushes on to that. Secure with two more hose clips. I can post a picture if that helps.
I do have a spare brand new filter if you become really stuck, but I am really keeping it in case one of mine gets damaged.
Harvey, I’ve used both the Pipercross and the K&N without any issues on either. If people are offering you their old ones it may be worth taking them up on the offer, but I would say invest in a filter cleaning kit, something like this :- Merlin Msport clicky
