Air Con?

Does anyone know the costs and implication in getting Air con fitted to an S2 Exige? (obviously doesnt have touring or performance pack!)

And is it a real bitch not having air con?

Cheers

James

not that possable

the labour charges would be just insane. You’d need all the bodywork off. On an S2 with the exhaust on the back further from the cabin and the water pipes held in polystryene blocks inside the sills and then a layer of carpet on top it really isn’t that bad. I hardly use my AC (its not bad for demisting though…

You’d be better of overall gettng a car with an electrically heated windscreen (I think sinclairs sell them) which would make winter mornings a joy as you can direct what little heat which comes out of the heater at you rather than the windscreen and in the summer just drive with the windows open or dare I say it take the roof off (off to wash my mouth out with soap ASAP )

It would cost a fortune to have installed to a non a/c car, I paid over 650 just to get replacement pipes through the sills never mind all the gubbins you’d need for a full system. Forget it & buy on already installed.

Don’t listen to the ‘you don’t need it’ brigade either, it gets bloody hot in summer, plus resale of a non a/c car will be much harder.

HTH.

Dont listen to the “you really need it” brigade. Just make sure you pay bottom price for the car and drink more water if it gets that hot - then when you sell it stick a fake AC button on the dash.

Once upon a time we drove in cars with black vinyl seats and no AC as an option or otherwise… somehow, against all odds it appears, the human race survived and lives on

Yes but it was pretty miserable on a 500mile journey with a 30c plus temp.If your gonna use the car on long journies its a must have.

Thats 500 miles on A roads which went straight through every town and village too. It was great.

I’ve just noticed that you live in london… def get AC…(just filling out application form to join two faced barstewards association)

What spec car are you after?

Yep your right, but we still use to get from London to the South of France in one day.quite a long day mind you!

Problem is boys is that Ive been offered one car with around 24k miles on it with full touring pack which is a little out of budget or an around 8k mile car with no pack and no ac although its in much better condition and cheaper by over a grand… what to do?!

Dont think I could drive with the roof off either, just in case I bump into one of you lot and get rocks thrown at me!

you simply must have air con

So if you had the choice, then you would go for the higher mileage, more expensive car WITH the AC?

Yeah deffo, but I’m sure you’ll get a decent sub 20K miler AC car for 20K. I nearly put mine on the market last month for that much…

Dont listen to the “you really need it” brigade.

Yeah, but those cars weren’t small mid engined supercars were they

There you go the price difference reflects the importance of A/C on these cars unless you are just using it for Track days.

suppose I’ll go for the 24k miler then. BTW how much is a set of 4 semi slick tyres (Standard Exige tyres)???

Full touring pack without AC doesn’t make much sense to me. edit: I misread the above post

I have the performace pack but personally I couldn’t get by without the AC. I use it every time at the moment for demisting and dehumidifying and I summer it’s a godsend if you get stuck in traffic.

Problem solved, just spoke to a dealer about cost to get AC fitted and apparently its impossible to do and I would be an absolute t1t to buy a car without it unless its purely track focused!
