My exige sport has air con and workout windows !
The air con aint particularly good ?
Does anyone know what the unit weighs ? might think about removing it
It should work really well, & you’d be mad to ditch it (unless it’s a pure racecar).
No its not going to be raced , ill give it till the summer and when I am struggling to breath maybe I will reconsider 
Just top it up with a can of refrigerant … works for me …
In the meantime, get it checked over/re-gassed, & then regularly use it (keeps the seals lubricated so they do their job).
The aircon should be really effective, & beneficial in summer
On a really hot day I use mine on track
Mine is 4 years old and still work immensely well, sounds like yours just needs a top up as John says.
And think the system is about 15kg’s, and your car will be less desirable without it.

^^the ecu switches off the compressor when full power is asked for by the driver ^^
Not really as it cuts out on full throttle anyway, so you lose a bit on partial throttle but I can live with that too be cool
