Air Con with Chargecooler rad??

Should it really be shit?
Very hot in the cabin today and felt like I was recycling hot air.
A/C recharged a couple of months ago after CC fitment (haven’t checked for dye stains yet) but should it just be rubbish now the CC rad is under the condenser. Ade?? Your experiences?

Mine seem ok, you do need to use recirculate though in my opinion in anything over 20degrees and sitting in traffic it doesn’t really keep up with the heat coming in from the rear window!

Whichever way it is still better than having a slightly asthmatic mouse breathing on you like you get in an S1 :unamused:

I’d take the asthmatic mouse. I can give it ventolin.

Move the CC rad under the crash box … seriously it does make a difference with high ambients …
Seal the sides and get the air really flowing through the rads …

Still horizontal? Have you got a picky ,please?

This is what I have done, I am hoping it will have made the difference, I’m sure it will increase drag slightly, but I doubt I will notice that.

all the rads are sealed already, it’s just they’re in a tight sandwich horizontally above the crash structure. I’m struggling to see why separating them will improve their efficiency. the air flowing through them will be the same with the same thermal capacity

I think if you separated the CC rad from the stack and left it with gaps around the outside so some air could go around, that might help with engine running temps whilst not impacting on the efficiency of the CC rad? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

The condensor does sit next to the water rad which will be at 80-90 degress so I suppose separating them will reduce conducted heat.

But that would effect the CC Rad surely and stop it being so efficient? Certainly not something I have seen on my car.

I agree it might theoretically make a detremental difference but if practically yours is still working, then I must have a problem.

What issues are you seeing then?

It doesn’t cool the air! I have learnt through exhaustive enquiry that is usually a prerequisite to a functioning system.

the aircon or the CC? bit confused…

I see where you’ve gone! CC works a treat. It’s at the bottom of the sandwich and gets cold air first, then the AC condenser , then the water rad.
The AC isn’t working well/at all. Recently charged and can’t see any dye leaking. Compressor turns on and off. I suspect that rather than the condenser not being able to heat exchange because of it’s less than favourable position, that I’ve got a leak somewhere that I can’t find.

My AC works fine (for an Exige) on mine, I’ve not had any issues with it since my CC was fitted, I still would like to find a slightly better solution for mounting the CC rad so as not to compromise the main rad so much on hot days
