My aircon has packed up and before i get on to the dealer ( Warranty Repair as 6 months old.) i wondered if there is anything simple i could check first. The blue light illuminates when the aircon is switched on but the air temp remains as before.
The fuses under the nearside front panel are all OK.
Any suggestions ??
No suggestions here I’m afraid. Mine packed up recently. Same symptoms as yours. It turned out to be a refrigerant leak.
Mine did the same, in the end it was traced to the wire on the solenoid on the compressor having dropped off after some hard track work, worth looking at!
Thanks Guys
I’ll try the solenoid connection then book it in for a warranty repair if no success.
My aircon stopped working as well. Turned out to be a fractured refrigerant pipe to the condenser. New pipe fitted under warranty which entailed removing the front clam, so got them to fit braided brake hoses at the same time at a discount price.
Regards,
David.
Lucky get My front clam didn’t have to come off

Definitely a comment from someone well versed in Lotus ownership
Mine is also not working - add it to the list of warranty stuff…
I can’t hear the compressor kick in (I could before) so guess it’s the connection there.
It’s a bit sad really, but I was really hoping they’d take off my front clam because there’s a very rusty bolt on the radiator which is clearly visible under the mesh. I was so hoping they could replace it for me

If it is low on gas the AC does not kick in to protect the compressor.
That means that you have a leak somewhere and they should test it by fitting some UV dye in the system.
It seems that the AC used on the Toyota engines, suffers from the same issues as the Rover ones (S2 Elise)
By the way how efficient is it when you get stuck in traffic?
Mine is crap

i worship my air con, its that good. i really hope it doesnt break down - sounds almost like a design fault!!!

Mine works fab, & has done since day 1 During this recent hot spell however I have noticed it’s not as efficient when the engine is at tickover, but improves with just a few revs. I’ve seen this reported on Elise Talk also, so I suppose it’s just a minor TADTS
Tim.
its also working harder to cool the increased ambient air temp. i have noticed the same during the last few days of this heatwave
mine packed up,
first switch was replaced and all was fine for 35miles, then found a wire had come out of the switch, stuck it back in and been fine since
