air con help

hello

before posting i have read in past comments about the air con. almost died in the car at the weekend due to lack of air con. as this country is england i havent yet tried the air con since buying the car. the blue light turns on however nothing

am i right in saying the inspection points to get it check are on the inside of the driver side scoop?

and there is a rely that maybe faulty in the passengers front arch.

what do i need to do first then if that dont work then step 2 .please advice any is great help

all the gas has probably leaked out, mine did it at about 3 years old, got it refilled and all is nice and icy cold again

yeah but if i recharge it and gas has leaked out wont it happen again. like filling a bottle with water with holes in it, am i being blonde

Yeah it probably will do , but Halfords do a topup can of refridgerant/leak sealer for about 20 .Well worth a go …
I’ve used it before with success on other cars… and with pressure in the system you may be able to see where the leak is and fix it !

There are known issues with the lotus a/c including faulty controls, etc. However a/c does need to be run as the gas acts as its own lubricant, so not running it can cause seals to dry out and ultimately leak.

The halfords can is worth ago.

if i take it to halfords where are the inspection point from them to see if it needs regassing, rather tell them then stand there for ages finding it lol

I was suggesting you buy the can from Halfords and take it home to do ?

I fixed my ac over christmas - nice and cold now! Basically the pipes tht run through the sill had broken at the joint on mine and had to be replaced with the revised rubber ones (nightmare of a job fitting them!). Its quite a common problem for these pipes to go. As someone has already said, the ac gas lubricates the seals which could be where its leaking because its not been regulary used (I don’t ever switch my ac off now). You may be lucky and recharging may sort it…

The refill point is behind the front section of the wheel arch liner for the drivers side rear wheel. Can be a little fiddly to get to. I noticed the other day Kwik fit were offering to recharge systems, but only charge you if they manage to actually recharge the system. Might be worth a try.

went to halfords yday, as i worked there i could trust the person doing it, just needed refilling, gona do another blast before the weekend. hope the pressure holds, its now colder through the air vent would that suggest that everything is okay. thank you for all your comments
