Air-con + Emerald + Fans = ???

Having just replaced one of my radiator fans (air-con car) due to it having seized I’ve noticed that only one of them comes on. Now the manual says they either come on in series or parallel depending on the temp. As only one of my fans comes on I was wondering if it was down to the fact that I have an Emerald fitted? Does anyone know what is normal operation with the Emerald fitted when the car has air-con? It’s not a major problem as I’m sure I can rewire the other fan to come on as well, but I’d rather not have to rewire it if I shouldn’t have to!

Unless you have the latest Emerald ECU I doubt you have air con operation functioning at all …

It depends on how the fan relay box has been wired to the emerald - but there are two possabilities - but both should run both fans …

You’re right in that the air con doesn’t work, but that’s not a problem as I’m going to take it out since it’s never worked very well anyway.

As you said both fans should run no matter what, so I’m thinking that the relay box may have a duff relay so only one is coming on?

I have an air-con car and without the air-con switched on only one fan comes on for cooling.Both fans only come on with air-con on.

Thanks. I’ve tried turning the air-con on but nothing happens\changes, although I expect this is because the Emerald isn’t wired to it

My Emerald has never turned on my rad fan either. I wired it up tested everything and no joy, sent the ECU back and they reckoned it was working fine. I have double and triple checked everything and it can ONLY be the ECU, to be honest I am rapidly loosing faith in my Emerald!
