aero ..

Ok ,so most other topics have been done to death ,but aero is a tad black art
anyone brave enough to offer their thoughts ??
Highly difficult to predict and computer model and not much readily available so …

I prefer the chunky bar, although the traditiional mint flavour bar comes a close second

^^ trust u ! ^^

Is that backed up by CFD testing ???

I’ve done a little research into aero - recent Spa experience showed that my car with front canards, Reverie diffuser and stiffer 2010 wing limited my top speed on the straights to the same as Sean’s & Toby’s car despite another 20 bhp (IAT permitting)

The problem with the Exige is getting it low enough to generate low pressure under the car thus increasing the downforce. Wings, canards, diffusers can increase downforce and I don’t think any current side skirts prevent leakage under the sides of the car unless it is super low

Maybe Frank will weigh in on this based on the amount of aero he is running

I have realised I am not brave enough to make use of any additional aero I put on my car, therefore I will bow out of this thread and just watch it go downhill instead

Is that downhill in 4th or 5th, with or without a girly lift ???

I rest my case

What is needed and my plan is a gt3 kit with big rear wing and a solid marine ply front splitter. I will run it pretty low and have wider wheels. Not sure how much difference it will make but we will see. Phil

Hey guys you do know the more aero you add the slower you will go down the straights right ?

Work on mechanical grip [tires/suspension] and when that’s maxed out then think about wings and things…

A few of you met my mate Chris (Whippy) at Spa. He works in the aero department at Merc F1. He and I have chatted about doing some ‘proper’ aero work on the Exige.
