Not long had my Exige S, suspension feels a bit softer than on previous exige. Opted for the supersports pack and as I am off to Knockhill next week I plan on trying out the adjustments. Had a glance at the A4 sheets I got given with the car about the supersports and it doesnt look quite as easy as pushing the PASM sports button in the Cayman S.
Not had a good look under the car yet but wondering how easy it is to adjust the ride height, dampener stiffness and roll bar. Is it really necessary to have 2x 70kg people in car when making adjustments and how long does it take to set and then reset?
Hoping for a dry night but Knockhill seems to have its own microclimate
There are three adjustments…
-
ride height
-
roll stiffness
-
damping rate
-
requires removing wheels and ideally having the car corner weighted. Its not something you would expect to be doing at a trackday.
-
Could be done at the track but requires some spanner work. Before you start playing about with that i would concentrate on getting tyre pressures right. Then if you fancy doing some spanner work, i would remove suspension shims to give more camber at the front especially.
-
Is intended to be easily changed at the track. The rear adjustment is done through the wheel at the base of the damper. The front adjustment is in the same place but its easier to turn the steering wheel to full lock to reach it. Wear gloves coz the discs can be effing hot.
Have fun…
IMHO the problem is that the car is under sprung and overdamped. Winding up the damping at the track just makes it even more noticeable as most road cars feel undersprung at the track. You will end up wanting stiffer springs at which point you will need new dampers…which is where i am.
…still having fun though.
if you ajust the ride height your toe will be wrong.
I only have one 70KG weight in the car as I am often on my own on track in the car.
Thanks for info. The supersport instructions are a bit low budget. Need to rememeber some gloves.
So the ride height adjustment is a major procedure, dealer made it sound a bit more simple.
Looking forward to the extra torque for Knockhill, the n/a exige used to be hard work keeping it on the boil all the way round. Then after that will need to start visiting some cicuits further afield
