Adjustable traction control

Does an 06 N/A Exige with electronic throttle have traction control as standard? I’m currently running the car with the ABS disconnected for track and rally so I don’t actually know if it has traction fitted.

After an entertaining drive on wet, muddy and leafy back lanes this morning I think I may want to have traction control as an option! Things got very lively when the 2nd cam came in mid corner. Especially since I haven’t fitted an LSD yet.

I see some of the later cars have a variable traction switch, can this be retrofitted or does it need a different ECU?

I will also be buying a set of proper wet tarmac tyres. There’s no way I’m going rallying in the wet with a set of A048 LTS’s. I had some Dunlop super soft X22’s on the old Elise which were very sure footed in the damp. Are there any other recommendations for a full wet race tyre?

traction was a standalone option but i think, it was also part of one of the option packs, sure someone will tell you which in a moment!

Pretty sure TC came on the sports and super sports cars, the variable came later and is fitted to super sports and possibly the PP pack (I’m not so sure on that).
Anyway it can be retro fitted and is an ecu flash and switch from what I understand.

Boothy

I think your right Boothy, mine doesnt have super sport pack but does have the sport pack and i have TC.

Mine’s super touring and does not have TC, you would think the super raw sports pack drivers would not have TC and us puffy touring boys would be the ones that need it

as boothy says sports and super sports have it but its also a standalone option for others

I think TC can be retrofitted as is not particularly expensive, as all the wiring is there

i asked dealer about retro fitting and said it wasn’t a problem (think about 300) but they need the car while the ecu is sent off, meaning car is at dealers for a week and no use for me as it’s 270 miles from home :frowning:

Living in Thurso you’re probably a lot more experienced at driving in the wet than I am so traction control might not be required

Actually I’m only jealous, after our Highlands tour last year in my mates Exige and a Renault Spider we were in awe of the roads you have up there…and the lack of traffic.

but remember and watch out for the sheep…

they leave footprints all over the bedroom if your not carefull

back on subject - 48’s no fun at all on standing water so just waiting to fit a set of team dynamics with t1r’s shortly and hopefully be more useful than having t/c fitted.
