Adding lightness . .

Courtesy of tim_marra, I now have a new prop for the rear hatch. It’s a repurposed umbrella. Out with the Workmate, the hacksaw, and away we went. Cut the carbon fibre shaft down to match length of its wooden predecessor.
Expecting a considerable weight saving, I popped wood and carbon on the scales and got a shock: wood, 55g; carbon, 70g.
On the other hand, I’ve lost 9.2lb since Jan 1 thanks to a combination of Dry January and careful eating, so I have added some lightness.

Quite shocked at that.

Carbon is heavier than wood story!

If that umbrella is anything like the Mercedes GP one I’ve got, that shaft is definitely not carbonfibre

Good effort though

I suspected that the “carbon” was not in fact carbon. But it does look better than a bit of a stick.

Keep pedalling Thommo :muscle:
