AC to non AC, help please...

I’ve posted on SELOC too.

I have removed the AC, had a good clean, reconditioned the heater box but I’m unsure before re-installation how the vents work or if they differ to a standard non AC car.

I do have a standard heater but I’d rather use the original heater as it looks more the job and is certainly in better condition. I presume it’ll work as that was its original purpose. My dilemma is in how it vents and if I need to duct or close off any of the holes in the pictures…

Looking at this just confuses me more, you’ll see from the first picture above there is no hole shown in the AC heater box as in the first link below…And the vent nearer the crash structure is on the other side…

If anyone has done this I’d appreciate the help.

Cheers
Jonny

I’m around Tuesday afternoon/early evening in Brum if you want me to swing by?

Jon thanks mate, its not a massive issue this TBH just need some reassurance. I’m tempted to block off the single vent passenger side, the crash structure vent leave as is draws air through it and the two towards the inside just move air from on side to the other… so rip out or leave. I’m just not sure if the AC heater is designed to work alone.

Having said that if you want to stop over and have a few beers buddy, spare room is all yours

Coming up to see my accountant in Dudley, so no biggy to swing by. Can’t take you up on the beer sadly as back at work following day down here.

If I was doing it I would stick with the original heater box, as all the vent holes, electrics, levers and pipework would be in the same place. Also from memory the AC unit had a few vacuum operated levers that are controlled by the valves above the pedal box. Get rid of the AC evaporator in the end housing though.

Think I would be tempted to remove the black plastic vents off and clean everything though. You know how much you like to clean and it shouldn’t take you long!!
