Hi All,
I just had my S1 serviced and fresh A048 tyres fitted at a Lotus specialist, and see that my new tyres do not have the “LTS” on them. Is this acceptable? I don’t know whether its worth raising with them??
Cheers - Carttman

How much did they charge for the 48s ?
618 inclusive of VAT.
If the car is an S1 exige, they should really have fitted LTS. The MH compound are very similar to the LTS, the M compound somewhat softer. Sometimes there are supply issues.
AFAIK the LTS compound are not available in S1 elise sizes.
Yes, it is an S1 Exige…
…anyone else have a view on this one?
I think one of the issues is, that does anyone actually know what the Lts compound is front and rear. Some people have guessed at M for the front and MH for the rear. BUT if this is the case then are Lotus justified in charging a lot more money for the letters on the side wall being different. I would like to think that they are a totally different compound of tyre all round…
If not then you have been over charged by about 200 as a set of normal Yoko’s are approx 420 inc vat…
LTS are M front, & MH rear. Apparently, it’s the carcass spec which is Lotus specific. The guys & gals in LOTRDC can’t use the LTS tyres, but I’ve not heard any of them complaining about the performance of the 48s they have to use
I have used non LTS 48s in the past, & with my limited on-track ability couldn’t feel any difference to the LTS - however, I’m not lap timing, nor looking for the odd 1/10th sec here or there
In my opinion LTS tyres are a lot harder than the Medium compound tyres we are using in LOTRDC. I don’t think I have ever killed a set of LTS fronts, but Mediums barely last a race weekend and a test day.
What does it say on the side of your tyres? If they are mediums I would want them changing as you wont be doing many miles on them.
And also I don’t think I have ever heard of anyone paying that much for a set.
Sean…
Yokohama have told me in the past that LTS are the harder than the MH compound. This makes me assume they are using different compounds for the LTS spec.
Cheers Phil
So guys,
Is it fair to say there is a 200 difference between LTS and non-LTS, because that’s an overcharge I don’t want to shrug off!
The guys & gals in LOTRDC can’t use the LTS tyres
Is that to do with sponsorship or is there a techie reason?
I’m sure MarkA will correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s because they don’t produce the LTS 48s in Elise sizes.

Not sure about 200 as you might have been able to get a better deal on LTS anyway, but certainly more than 100.
Yeah as far as I am aware Pesky is correct, they selected Mediums as the control tyre as they were available in both Elise and Exige sizes and the LTS compound was not.
