Does anyone have the correct/recommended tyre pressures for the “new” Yokohama A048s?I gather the pressures are different to A039s
DavidI was “informed” by Lotus Performance Dept (ex Motorsport) to initially try 23 front, 26 rear, per the A 039s!I think that Tim Skipper runs his 190 Elise with the 48s at 30 all round - once hot! What have you tried so far? I’ve only done 1 trackday with mine (23 front/26 rear, but it was very wet all day, & the tyres didn’t even get warm!
I tried the 23F / 26R combo, but found the steering to be quite heavy - I guess there’s more tyre in contact with the track now, so it would feel heavier. They certainly got up to temperature though (peeling like the old A039s do)I think I’ll up them to 25/28 and see how it goes.
Have done Brands on the new 48’s - superb!!I have been told by a couple of lads that race their Exiges in the roadsports part of the 750 MC that you should have 24 psi in front and rears when the tyres are hot.It doesn’t make any difference if the conditions are wet or dry - do a few laps, come in and adjust temps to 24.I tried it at Brands, first in the wet and then in the afternoon in warm, dry weather.Result - Fantastic - the level of grip is close to slicks in the dry, and in the wet, much better than the A38’s.I managed a 55.5 second lap in the dry - best I’ve ever managed, although I think the corner weighting and engine cooling mods also helped. On the road, use 23/26 when cold - seems fine.
it also depends on the track where you race24 hot all around is too soft in Spa, you loose too much on the straights30 hot is OK for Spa & the Ring
Didn’t anyone else think the steering was heavier with the A048s ?!?

Are you all using the 48’s as your road tyre too? I need to replace my 39’s very soon but the tyres must be OK for wet road driving too (Scotland!). How are the 48’s in the wet on track compared to the 39’s?Basically, is it a win-win deal?
AllyIf you need tyres - just get the 48s, for three reasons:1. They’re cheaper (this appeals to us sasanachs too!) [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]2. You’re selling your car in the next month or two, so why worry [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]3. In the wet (road & track)they seem the same as the 39s to me [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]Have a good weekend - so have you got a final, final delivery date for the SR3??
Cheers Rob, sounds like the 48’s are the way to go then. I’m not sure that Exiges, like any specialised car, are that easy to sell, so I’m just preparing myself. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]When you mentioned before about upgrading the uniball links, it never clicked it was because you were using (albeit quietly [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] ), the 48’s and taking the extra grip/stress into consideration. What’s the cost of this? Any downside?SR3 should be about 2/3 weeks away. Going to Bruntingphorpe this week to test out a factory car and familiarise myself with the controls and high-speed handling.
