A039's or another tyre?

Done a quick search but can’t find a recent post on the subject.

Are A039’s the best road tyre for an S1 Exige or have things moved on in the last decade? Would a newer tyre such as the AD08 be a cheaper and better bet?

Any advice gratefully received.

Nowt wrong with either 48s or 888s on the road, as long as you drive sensibly.

Aquaplaning - light car/wide tyres/standing water can combine to be treacherous, hence the drive sensibly comment.

A039s are a good tyre - don’t expect them to last much longer than 48s or 888s, & they’re horrifically expensive.

Above my opinion after 90K miles on only 39s,48s & 888s, so can’t comment on AD08.

Agree! A039 is great but stupid expensive. My dealer wanted 430 for 1 rear :astonished:

I now run Kuhmo KU31 which are good and price worthy. The rears can be a bit snappy in the wet but nothing I can’t handle.

Next try might be the Toyo R1-R although they don’t have a 195/50R16 front. Not sure which one others are using. There is the 205/45R16 and the 205/50R16.

Last tim i bought 39’s (still have them for winter) they were 147 for the front & 207 for the rears (+ vat). That was from the factory.

A brilliant wet tyre.

I think that was what they were originally designed to be - they were listed as such in the Yoko motorsport tyres brochure back in the day.
