Without wishing to appear like the boy racer or too much of a prat I want to ask a question which I hope will not offend the lotus purists amongst us or cause any contention. I’m still in a long but enjoyable process of looking for, buying and subsequently converting an S1 elise or S1 Exige (finance dependant) to an audi/honda beastie. I’m more or less sold on the Audi and have spoken to Bernard before now for reasons previously discussed at length, but 1 childishly exciting question that I have which I’d like to ask: In your opinions/experience, in terms of relative performance / speed, what kind of increase are we talking about over a other cars. Please note, that thus far, I’ve not test driven and audi/honda conversion purely because i feel that until I’m in a position to purchase its unfair to waste a persons time, however, I’ve previously owned a standard elise, 2 imprezas, and most recently a modded Esprit S4s so know what a generically ‘fast car’ feels like.
So, for example and just out of interest (as I appreciate that these cars are very quick and phenomenal value and I’m already sold… but just to wet my appetite you understand), if one were driving a converted 300 + audi/honda at circa 50 mph and one decided that one might like to put ones foot down on a stretch of unrestricted autobahn and at that time one happened to be driving alongside a similar minded person in A.N.Other sports car, what sort of performance are we realistically expecting, i.e what sort of cars would we be a) thrashing, b) drawing level with, c) losing to ?
I have an S1 Exige with the Honda SC conversion, funnily enough ive had mine on the autobahn and it hit 164mph on GPS, probably go quicker without the draggy rear wing.
Ive had a few cars, porkers, modified RS4 B5 and the Exige is on a completely different scale of speed, ive played with 997GT3’s, 575 ferraris, 360 ferraris, Nobles and its quick enough to pull away from those, although I think I may have had to change down a gear for the 997 gt3.
They are � for � amazing value for what they do, and on track they will destroy most things, ive pushed radicals round the track.

But how can I explain the feeling of the thing…ok, well, I took out a young lady this week…accelerated hard. She giggled, her face went a shade of red and then proeeded to jump on me at the next available opportunity.
i just had a few laps round silverstone in my 320 bhp Audi converted Lotus and in terms of speed down the straights it was leaving everything behind for example an Evo 7 and my mates 450 bhp Rx7. I cant see there being many cars that are as fast in a straight line or round a bend.

Sorry I havent put a post up yet in the for sale section, my exige is having the nylatrons replaced this week as one on the rear has perished.
I will put it up for sale on the weekend most likely, If your wondering about the spec, my car has absolutely everything on it, its MSC conversion number 3, its the car that led the 1st tuner GP untill 3 minutes from the end when we were pipped at the post by a xtr4 audi by .04 second, this is with no set up, since then Randy and Scuffers have been over the car and its all set up perfectly.
I dont want to sell it, I wish I could take it to florida with me but unfortunately it doesnt seem I can.
The car has just had a virtual complete respray at MSC it has motorsports rear cover and also the standard one still sitting at MSC.
Its cost me over �50k to get it to the spec it is at now, MSC have maintained it since I had the conversion done.
Price wise, im still trying to decide, but the right offer will get it.
