Hi,
Iv just sold my Clio V6 255 and i was considering an Exige N/A.
I test drove 1 and it was a great drive, far more responsive than my V6.
I am also looking at more sensble options, things like new audi S3.
How do youa find the exige, i.e running cost performance ect??
Before I got my S2 I had always previously sought a car that that did both, good on the track and good on the road and this time last year I was looking at a new S3 for exactly that reason.
Anyhow, Gav talked me round and after a test drives in various S1’s & S2’s I realised (pretty quickly) that the Exige was the car for me.
Buy an Exige !!! I bought one in April this year and i have no regrets whatsoever. Running costs are surprisingly cheap, i don’t think i have ever owned a car that gives you so much fun for such little money. Cheaper to insure than my Subaru Impreza, way better fuel economy than my Subaru and servicing costs are quite reasonable too. The only downside is, as Flying Exige said, you will want to start tinkering and upgrading which could get a little costly, but you just have to have some self restraint.
Go on take the plunge, i promise you will not regret it !

performance wise how does it compare to the impreza?
The Exige is comparable to an Impreza if you are looking at dry stats on a page. They are good cars, I had one some years ago. But nothing compares to the seat of the pants driving that a Lotus offers, its as simple as that. Every time you drive an Exige its a pure adrenaline rush.
OK I have an S1 Exige but in the past I’ve had a previous generation S3 and I currently have an A3Q (albeit an oil burner) as our family wagon.
The Exige and the S3 are both great cars but they are so very different. After a couple of weeks of ownership an S3 will never be an event to drive and will always be anodyne in comparison.
I wouldnt worry about straight line speed you should be quicker than an S3, before i got my exige s, I had an elise 111s and my friend had an S3 (the last model though) and he was no match for the elise it always just about had the edge.
Just go for it and you will be hooked.
