A dodgy Ecu Speed Sensor perhaps?

Hi,
For a while, I have had an intermittent problem with a 5k rev limiter.
I understand it is linked to the connector that sits astride the right rear wishbone, running from the ECU speed sensor.
This connector has been cleaned several times & well sealed.
Is there a clean up job I should be doing to the sensor itself? Or just focus on the connector?
I did replace the speedo sensor recently which was quite well corroded, but havent checked the condition of the ECU speed sensor yet.

Any feedback is appreciated,
Andy

Almost certainly the connection if you have replaced the sensor. The ECU is very well protected inside the cabin so I think it would be unlikely to be that.

Check also the trigger wheel - as these sensors work based on a fluctuating magnetic field, any rust/ferrous material in the slots of the wheel can cause a poor signal to go back from the sensor to the ECU.

I had this on my car and as Pete indicated the root cause was the connection not the sensor. The wire had worn away somewhere on its way to the ECU.

Appreciate the feedback lads, interesting point regarding the trigger wheel.
When I replaced the lhs speedo sensor, did notice the corrosion on both trigger wheel & sensor… so expect same condition on rhs.
Will give them a clean, plus take another look at the connector.
Benja, hope it is not a dodgy wire… not quite as simple, I can cope with simple!!
Cheers

Just returned from another successful Le Mans trip, no 5.5k rev limiter even in the wet… believe the cullprit or partly responsible cullprit was a split vacuum hose adjacent to the fuel rail. The engine revs superbly now!!

Good news, gotta do Le Mans one year…or N24

Benja, lucky to have seen a few different motorsports over the years, love the 24hrs… But if you want a recommendation, just get to the TT!!
