A/C fans relay module TRW YWB 100800

This relay module is fitted to a v rusty bracket on the drivers side of the front wheel arch.
As the A/C has been removed from the car do I really need this , does it have any other functions?

I would like to remove it as the bracket is dead so dont need to replace it if its not needed.

obvious thing to try is unplugging it to see what does not work but thought I’d ask first.

Amazing what you find behind the wheel arches,…

I think you need to replace the module with something else as doesn’t it control both fans? I could be talking utter tosh though…

Post up a pic and I’ll check on mine Clive.

It will depend on what is operating the cooling fan … if its still using the original fan trigger and wiring then as Ben said you cant just throw it out.

I have a diagram for a replacement box consisting of some relays - but you really need to know how its wired up first.

Here is the unit dangling where the arch liner should be.

And this is the rusty bracket that rivits to the liner…Horrid

Ran the engine up to full hot .Fan does not switch in …with or without this module.
I have a separate fan switch on the dash.
Dangling wire is front hatch emergency release if cable fails. I am learning…

Well I suppose the good news is…is that rusty front end can easily look as good as mine! Ali looks ok to me Clive, no worse than mine. I’ll checkout that relay tomorrow but without looking right now it’s worth downloading the service manual in the meantime.

I didn’t use/test this yet as my module still works ok … but when the AC system is taken out this should, should ! work

One fan is switched using the signal from the Hondata ECU and the other is switched using a sensor in one of the bottom hoses …

Its probably overkill as one fan will be Ok but anyhow …

for reference - in case you don’t have the original wiring diagram

That’s in better condition than a 4 year old Evora mudflap bracket! That’s Lotus pristine what you have there.
