A bit off topic but, what to choose?

My old station junker is coming to the end of its natural life and needs to be replaced. I wanted something a bit better that won’t cost too much to run but has a bit of fun factor. My choices seem to have ended up as

Audi A3 1.8T 04 plate
Mini Cooper S works 54 plate

I kind of think the Audi will be cheaper to run but lose more money in the long run so even out over 3 years?
Opinions?

You’ll have much more fun in the Mini, but the Audi is the better built, and version dependant, softer ride. The 1.8T is very tuneable though, whils the Mini’s engine is at its sensible limit in the Works car.

I’d take the Mini.

Why not swap your Exige for the Hummer, which is available?

Are the gearboxes stronger on Hummer’s? If yes there might be a choice there

Yep, one for each wheel

Seriously though Ade, try a Clio 197 Cup  Bloody good on track, without ANY mods too :sunglasses:

Sadly it is french and I have issues just getting in one, and the are made of cheese or is it chocolate?

As Pesky says a Clio 197. They are mint and an absolute bargin!!

I reckon the French are getting better at bolting stuff together as well. They are at least as good as Lotus!!

Ade my daily drive is a BMW engined Cooper S (turbo not SC) - great fun, doesn’t hang around but the down sides are next to no storage and a firm ride

Leon Cupra R instead of the Audi. Cheaper and same engine?

Yeah man they are great cars.

Johns has done loads of miles in his and he drives like a loon 100% of the time!!!

I rented a clio 197 cup at the 'ring not long back. I am seriously tempted to get one now, awesome car !

I had a Fiesta ST for a while and this was great fun. Road holding with the ESP was amazing.

I know of a cracker Cooper coming up for sale real soooon, as a station runabout it’s ideal…

One lady owner and never been tracked.

As above - the quality of our cars is the best they have ever been and people would be suprised if national breakdown stats plus some other industry quality stats were publicised. German is not always best

Could also try a 207 Gti 175 - same engine as mini cooper s and much, much better value for money.

(although yes, before anyone says it I am slightly biased  )
