999c on the temp sensor?

Hi

i have rebuilt my elise s1 (not exige)and put in a honda engine.
the problem i have now is that the temp sensor is showing 999c
i tryed a new ground, but its still the same, i have bought 2 new senors and its the same.

Any ideas

best regards tomislav

Buy a fire extinguisher…soon!

Sorry, don’t know the answer. Sounds like a fault with the Stack dash perhaps?

The Stack dash will need to have the temperature signal come from the original blue sensor on the Elise/exige rather than the water temp sensor on the honda that sends it’s signal to the ECU. the two sensors work on a different resistance. We usually fit an inline fitting in the water pipe system with the blue sensor in it to take the water temp directly to the stack.
Hope this helps.

Steve.

Did you get a dyno run from your K24 yet ?

Usually any channel on the stack that is getting no signal will show 999. As oppsosed to showing 0 for a working sensor that’s not reading anything yet.

we have tryed the lotus stock sensor, i bought 2 new on eliseparts, its the same problem, i will try a new cabel to the stack, is it going directly in to the stack or does it change cabels or anything on the way.

Not yet, have just driven the car to workshops, painter etc,

i would guess arround 210-220hp the one that helped me whit the engine (hondanutt)think it gives more

spec honda k24, jdm intake manifold, stark header and cat, kpro
civic type-r gearbox.

its really strong on low rev,

thanks

i have tryed to remove the conection to the sensor then the instrument dont show anything and when i connect it it shows 999c

once when the hood was of and it was raining the senor worked

i have tryed to spray some water but nothing, i will try to take a cabel directly from the sensor to stack and see.

otherwise i will just get a aftermarket part and put it in the dashboard.

The sensor wire could be shorted to earth, this gives a 999 reading.
