Hi
I have just got a couple of six point harnesses to put in my S1.
My question is where do I mount the lap and the belts that go between your legs.
I have got the harness bar in place so thats the shoulder straps sorted.
Cheers

Depends which type you’ve got.
Sometimes there is a bar which bolts under the seat which retains the straps in other set ups the straps are anchored to the floor (using reinforcement plates ) and sometimes they use the rear seat fittings…but I could be wrong. Usual disclaimer!
I have just been fitting 6 point belts in my car this week. I assumed that you no longer have standard seats so you need to fit spreader plates underneath the car to safely fix both the lap and crotch belts. The biggest problem i have encountered is that the instructions are very specific on the angle in degreees for the mounting of the 6th point crotch strap. Basically if its not exactly at the right angle it doesn’t work effectively for anti-submarineing.
If it helps at all i could send you some pics via email.
I have still got the original seats in at the moment Until I can get a set of seats with the cut outs I was going to use them.

As well as giving you lumps in your throat
I went through this process when fitting MOG seats. Simon Farren (of Reverie) recommended that a bar is fitted under a seat, rather than securing the crotch strap to a spreader plate. I can send you some photos that Simon took when fitting the bar.
If you’re intending to race, you need to read the “Blue Book” - iirc belts should not be bolted/fixed to the seat.
The Blue Book is avaialble on line.
See para 44 et seq in the BLUE BOOK for safety belt regulations
Great link, thanks Mike.
Make sure you fit and adjust it properly…

Ouch that must have hurt like hell
looks like the guys balls have been pushed out of his sac ~suppose at least there still there and not as swollen as I’d have expected
I am not itending to race the car just use it for track days. If you drill the floor do the lap belts attach to the same points as the crotch belts.

Blimey that brought a lump to my throat
If you have a fixed seat, you can mount the lap belts and crotch strap to the seat runners. That means you don’t have to drill your floor.
Wow - Those pictures are very graphic! They help explain in seconds with one glance what I try and tell people about correct instalation which takes a while to explain. I am sure if I showed people those they might listen a bit more!
“de-gloving” - what an understatement
That pic has actually caused a physical twinge of pain. Poor man
