Is it just me that thinks this particular series is a tad too soon after the last one? I mean, our lot has barely sobered up since the last ashes series, whereas the Aussie Poofta’s have been pawing the ground for 11 years waiting for revenge and are motivated. Our team get depressed as soon as they step foot off the boat and want to go home again, those that stay just enjoy the beer and nice weather. They’re probably also avoiding contact with any lawless ancestors apart from the 11 on the pitch (or 2, if its your turn to bat).
After the last series this summer I was in no doubt it was goodbye to our little urn, it was coming a mile off. Had there not have been the unrest in the Aussie camp I reckon we would have seen it go then. Hopefully it’s goodbye and thank you to Peterson as well as a few others. Bell can stay but lets get this next generation in now, we just need a few more young bowlers but the batting line up is looking very bright.
